Training for Water Professionals

Source Water Protection Training

These programs are useful for operator training and for producing protection plans using a template-based approach. The courses vary in duration and complexity.

ILLINOIS, INDIANA & OHIO

Source Water Protection Training Interactive Guides have been produced for three EPA Region 5 states -- Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio. This interactive training tool has been created to simplify the process of developing a source water protection plan for small public drinking water systems in Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio. All provide multimedia training on basic concepts and detailed guidance on source water protection planning. Features Activities ... test your knowledge of groundwater concepts and how it becomes contaminated. Flash Cards & Glossary Games ... help you learn the terminology quickly. Video Clips ... introduce you to a number of situations you may encounter. Resources ... available on this disc for those who want to go beyond the basics. A printable version is available for the entire program (PA only).

NOTE: This product was developed to run on Windows XP. It is reported to run on Windows Vista. However, it is not known if this product is Windows 7 compatible. PENNSYLVANIA This guide assists in the development of a source water protection plan. Introduction is a general overview with answers to common questions. The Basics is a review of groundwater and contamination principles. The Plan illustrates the five step process used to develop a source water protection plan. Case Studies provide real-world groundwater and surface water examples. Resources is the place to go for more information. This program is available online only on the PA DEP website.
